I am a native of the Pacific Northwest and have spent most of my life savoring the beauty of this area. I enjoy actively exploring the outdoors and can often be found hiking or running in all kinds of weather, or commuting by bicycle. I also like to travel, cook, read and spend time with my family. My interest in the field of psychology is informed by my own life’s journey and growth as a person, including my personal experience as a parent of two (now adult) children.
Professional Background
I completed my doctoral work in clinical psychology at Miami University of Ohio, where I was trained in family systems therapy and interpersonal/relational therapy. I received additional clinical experiences at the University of Oregon in a pre-doctoral internship, gaining further experience in group work and individual psychotherapy. My Ph.D in Clinical Psychology was awarded in 1996. I have worked with children, families and adults for the past 25 years as a clinician and educator in both the public and private sector.
I have had additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Circle of Security work, and in Professional Mediation.
I have also worked as an adjunct faculty for the Infant Toddler Mental Health Graduate Certificate Program at Portland State University, teaching a course on infant/toddler mental health for graduate students.
